UVic Elder Academy "All Over the Map" by Kevin Hall, UVic President and Chancellor

Dr. Kevin Hall's presentation will explore a career path that has been altered based on various global social and environmental events and will explore Kevin’s evolution as an engineer, a humanitarian and as an innovator and entrepreneur. From advanced mathematical modelling to the use of photonics in pathogen detection, from low-cost water treatment solutions in the peri-urban slums of Southeast Asia to the restoration of livelihoods following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Please note - the start time is 10:00 am Pacific Time (ie 7:00 am EST)

UGRA Fall Forum 2021 by Zoom

Save Thursday November 18 for the UGRA’s Fall Forum from 2-4 pm (but the Zoom door will open at 1:30pm). Once again, for your safety this will be a Zoom meeting. An invitation will be sent out to you in November with a link to access this event. We are pleased to focus on the College of Arts. There are so many things happening in the college post-pandemic.

Alex MacKenzie from Canada by land, 22 July 1793 - Dr. Rick Van Loon

Last spring, Dr. Richard (Rick) Van Loon, past President of Carleton University, gave Part I of his 2-part lecture titled “Hard Travel: 6000 years up the Ottawa River and into the West”.  It was a big Zoom success, with guests from the universities of Saskatchewan, Calgary and Guelph. As promised and by popular demand, Rick will be presenting Part II titled “Hard Travel: Alex MacKenzie from Canada by land, 22 July 1793”. This has been scheduled for: Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 7:00 pm.
