UGRA is going to Turkey and Egypt in October 2026.

Discover Turkey, from the labyrinthine bazaars of Istanbul and Ankara to the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. Cruise along the Bosphorus and visit the cave-dwellings of the Goreme Valley. Next, head to Egypt to see the Great Pyramids in Cairo, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and enjoy a 4-night Full-Board Nile Cruise through Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan.

July Newsletter of Carleton's LLL committee

The purpose of sharing newsletter information will hopefully help us as a team come up with ideas about how to address recent challenges. Lets starting sharing our ideas on how we can create innovative approaches to develop useful programs for Retirees from Canada's colleges and Universities. Feel free to send Carole-Lynne (cllenave@ucalgary.ca, CURAC Board member and Chairperson, Later Life Learning Committee) ideas and she will have them posted on the LLL mailing list. 
 

Recruiting for the Hearing Loss and Cognition MRI Study

The Cognition and Neuroscience of Aging Lab (CANAL) under the supervision of Dr. John Anderson at Carleton University is currently looking for adults for a study about hearing loss, brain structure, and cognition.

They will ask you to take part in three sessions:

    Session 1 (90 min): over the phone or Zoom where you will be asked a series of screening questions to confirm your eligibility (30 min). If eligible, you’ll be booked for Session 2 and given a link to continue with online surveys (60 min)

Recruiting for food survey study in older adults.

 Alison Duncan, a professor in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, and her graduate students we are working on a food survey study in older adults. 
 
The study involves a 2-hour appointment that can be held on campus (they pay for parking) or they can come to community sites.  Participants complete a questionnaire and are asked about what they ate the day before.  They receive a $25 gift card and a Recipe Resource designed for older adults ($40 value).
