Dr. Serge Gauthier, Professor Emeritus, Department of Neurology & Neurosurgery and Department of Psychiatry, Academic Co-Lead, Dementia Education Program, McGill University

Mrs. Claire Webster, Founder, Ambassador and Lecturer, Dementia Education Program, McGill University Founder and President, Caregiver Crosswalk Inc.

This seminar aims to raise awareness and provide basic information about Alzheimer’s disease and other neurocognitive disorders. During the presentation, Dr. Gauthier, a clinical neurologist, will provide information on the different types of neurocognitive disorders. He will discuss the associated behavioural and psychological symptoms that manifest as the disease progresses, and explain how these may differ from typical aging concerns.

Mrs. Webster will share practical advice on how to care for a person living with dementia. She will discuss important considerations to ensure the safety and well-being of both the individual as well as the care partner to help families understand and access the resources needed to navigate this disease. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Led by a multidisciplinary team, the McGill University Dementia Education Program has created multilingual educational resources to support people living with dementia-related illnesses and their care partners. Please visit the DEP webpage to learn more.
