Invitation to participate in a research study on seniors diagnosed with cancer
Susanne Sinclair, Clinical Research Coordinator, Institute for Applied Health Sciences, McMaster University is working with Dr. Jenna Smith-Turchyn to share information about a research study for adults aged 60+ who have been diagnosed with cancer. Many older adults experience challenges such as fatigue, decreased physical function, and social isolation after cancer treatment. Research shows that exercise and social support can improve health, well-being, and quality of life, but many older adults do not have access to these supports.
This study is exploring whether pairing older adult cancer survivors with a peer can help increase exercise participation, social connection, and overall well-being. Once participants are paired with a peer, they will be randomised to one of three study groups: the control group, the peer support alone group, or the peer support + exercise professional support group.
Additional information is provided in the attached flyer.
