CURAC/ARUCC Pension Report released in February

In light of recent events, the CURAC/ARUCC Board is pleased to present an important review of current position issues on its website.  The link is https://www.curac.ca/pension-report-feb-21/  

Highlights of the February 2021 CURAC/ARUCC Pension Committee Report include:

  • The possibility that a fourth Ontario university (Trent) will join three others in converting their pensions into the University Pension Plan (UPP) effective January 1, 2022; the other members are Queen’s University, University of Guelph and University of Toronto)
  • The application of Laurentian University for creditor protection and the pension implications not only for Laurentian pensioners but also those at other post-secondary institutions, a particular concern when budgets are under considerable stress
  • An important overview into possible solutions for distressed pension funds.
