York University Retirees' Association presents: Surviving our fiery future: Learning to live with wildfire
In this presentation, Dr. Eric Kennedy discusses the interconnected sources of our wildfire crisis and what can be done to address it. We consider some of the challenges with our emphasis on firefighting and suppression, and discuss some of the paradigm shifts that will be needed if we want to live safely with wildfire in the future.
Dr. Kennedy is an Associate Professor in Disaster & Emergency Management, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at York University. His research focuses on decision-making in emergency contexts, especially around the question of how we leverage expertise and evidence to manage disasters more effectively.
